Description

These Cheese Biscuits are flaky, buttery, and loaded with sharp cheddar cheese. Perfect for breakfast or as a side to your favorite meal.

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup cold buttermilk (plus more for brushing)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives or parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. Cut in the cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in cheese and herbs. Make a well in the center, pour in buttermilk, and gently combine.
  3. Shape Biscuits: Turn out dough onto a floured surface, pat into a rectangle, fold, and repeat. Cut out biscuits and place on baking sheet.
  4. Bake: Brush biscuits with buttermilk and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Serve: Serve warm with butter.
