Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 large head of cauliflower (about 2 pounds), cut into florets
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the cauliflower: Cut the cauliflower head into florets and rinse them under cold water to clean and remove any debris.
- Cook the cauliflower: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cauliflower florets and cook for 10 to 12 minutes until they become tender and easily pierced with a fork.
- Sauté the garlic: While the cauliflower cooks, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Blend the mixture: Drain the cooked cauliflower and transfer it to a food processor. Add the heavy cream, the garlic sautéed in butter, and the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Blend the mixture until it becomes completely smooth and creamy.
- Season and finish blending: Season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper to your taste. Blend briefly again to evenly distribute the seasoning.
- Serve warm: Transfer the creamy mashed cauliflower to a serving dish, optionally drizzle with a little melted butter on top, and serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- For an extra smooth texture, you can press the cauliflower through a fine mesh sieve after blending.
- Adjust the amount of heavy cream to reach your desired consistency.
- To make this recipe dairy-free, substitute butter and heavy cream with olive oil and coconut milk respectively.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently to avoid drying out.
- Adding grated Parmesan cheese to the mash can enhance flavor if desired.
