Description

Enjoy a guilt-free snacking experience with these Crispy Tofu Chips, made from smooth firm silken tofu enhanced with umami-rich nori, a spicy kick of Shichimi togarashi, and crunchy toasted sesame seeds. Baked to golden perfection, these chips are a healthy, flavorful alternative to traditional snacks.

Ingredients

Scale

Tofu Chips

  • 350-400 g Firm silken tofu
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 sheet Crushed nori
  • 1 tsp Shichimi togarashi
  • 2 tbsp Toasted black & white sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to prepare for baking the tofu chips.
  2. Blend Tofu: Place the firm silken tofu in a food processor and blend until smooth and creamy, creating a spreadable paste.
  3. Spread Tofu: Evenly spread the blended tofu paste onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat for easy removal.
  4. Add Toppings: Sprinkle the tofu layer with a pinch of salt, crushed nori sheet, 1 tsp Shichimi togarashi, and 2 tablespoons of toasted black and white sesame seeds to add flavor and texture.
  5. Bake: Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the tofu chips turn golden brown and crispy.
  6. Cool and Serve: Remove the baked tofu from the oven and allow it to cool on a cooling rack. Once cooled, break the sheet into chip-sized pieces and serve.

Notes

  • Use firm silken tofu to achieve the ideal texture for crispiness.
  • Ensure the tofu paste is evenly spread for uniform baking.
  • Adjust Shichimi togarashi quantity based on your spice preference.
  • Store leftover chips in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
  • For extra crunch, you can add a light spray of oil before baking if desired.
