Description

Indulge in the rich and comforting flavors of Espresso Hot Chocolate, a decadent twist on traditional hot cocoa with a kick of espresso. This luxurious drink is the perfect pick-me-up for chilly days or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Espresso Hot Chocolate:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 shots (2 oz) freshly brewed espresso or 1/4 cup strong coffee
  • pinch of salt
  • whipped cream and chocolate shavings for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk, heavy cream, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Whisk constantly until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth and hot, about 5–6 minutes.
  2. Stir in the vanilla extract and freshly brewed espresso. Continue heating for 1–2 more minutes, but do not let it boil.
  3. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar to taste.
  • For a dairy-free version, use almond or oat milk and dairy-free chocolate chips.
