Description

Delicious and refreshing frozen chocolate covered bananas made with ripe bananas dipped in melted semisweet chocolate and optional toppings. This easy-to-make dessert is perfect for warm days, snack time, or a healthy treat that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Banana Pops

  • 4 ripe bananas, cut in half
  • 8 wooden popsicle sticks

Chocolate Coating

  • 12 ounces semisweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil

Toppings (Optional)

  • 1/3 cup chopped nuts
  • Sprinkles
  • Shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bananas: Peel the bananas and cut them in half. Insert a wooden popsicle stick into each banana half firmly to create banana pops. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer.
  2. Freeze the Bananas: Place the baking sheet with banana pops into the freezer and freeze for at least 2 hours or until the bananas are completely firm and frozen through.
  3. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
  4. Dip the Bananas: Remove the frozen banana pops from the freezer. Quickly dip each banana into the melted chocolate, turning to coat evenly and thoroughly.
  5. Add Toppings: Immediately after dipping, sprinkle chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or sprinkles over the chocolate before it sets for added texture and flavor.
  6. Set the Coating: Place the coated bananas back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet and return them to the freezer for another 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden completely.
  7. Serve: Once the chocolate coating is firm, serve the frozen chocolate covered bananas directly from the freezer for a cool and satisfying treat.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm bananas to ensure they hold well during freezing and dipping.
  • Experiment with different toppings such as crushed pretzels, mini chocolate chips, or granola for variety.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 week to maintain freshness.
