Description

This Garlic Butter Steak Lightning Noodles recipe combines tender, thinly sliced flank steak with fragrant garlic butter and a savory sauce, tossed with perfectly cooked rice noodles or spaghetti. Ready in just 20 minutes, it’s a quick and satisfying stir-fry dish that brings bold Asian-inspired flavors to your dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale

Noodles

  • 8 oz rice noodles (or spaghetti)

Steak and Sauce

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Prepare the noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside to prevent sticking.
  2. Heat butter in skillet: Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter until hot and bubbling.
  3. Sear the steak: Add the thinly sliced flank steak to the skillet. Sear for 2-3 minutes per side until nicely browned but still tender. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Sauté garlic in butter: Reduce the heat to medium. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and the minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 30 seconds until the garlic is fragrant but not browned.
  5. Add sauces and spices: Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix well to form a flavorful sauce base.
  6. Toss noodles in sauce: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss thoroughly to coat every strand in the garlic butter sauce.
  7. Combine steak and noodles: Return the seared steak to the skillet with the noodles. Stir everything together and cook for another 1-2 minutes to heat through and allow flavors to meld.
  8. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat, then sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds on top as garnish. Serve immediately for best taste.

Notes

  • Use rice noodles for a gluten-free option or spaghetti for convenience and texture.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to control the heat level or omit for a milder dish.
  • Thinly slice the flank steak against the grain to ensure tenderness.
  • Leftover steak noodles can be refrigerated for up to 2 days but are best enjoyed fresh.
  • Butter quality notably affects the flavor – use unsalted European-style butter if available for richness.
