Description

This homemade Crunchwrap Supreme recipe offers a delicious and satisfying Tex-Mex meal featuring seasoned ground beef, crunchy tostada shells, fresh veggies, and melted cheese, all wrapped in a golden, crispy flour tortilla. Perfect for a quick dinner or casual get-together, these wraps are pan-fried to a perfect crisp and filled with layers of savory and fresh flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 2/3 cup water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Crunchwrap Assembly

  • 6 large flour tortillas
  • 6 small tostada shells
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup jalapeños (optional)

Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula until it is browned. Drain the excess fat to keep the mixture from being greasy.
  2. Season the beef: Add the taco seasoning and water to the cooked beef. Stir well and simmer for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Prepare skillet for cooking wraps: In a separate skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat to prepare for cooking the Crunchwraps.
  4. Assemble the Crunchwraps: Lay a large flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. In the center, layer the seasoned beef, a small tostada shell, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, lettuce, diced tomato, diced red onion, and jalapeños if using.
  5. Fold the tortilla: Carefully fold the edges of the tortilla up and over the filling, pinching together in the center to form a secure wrap that encloses all the ingredients.
  6. Cook the Crunchwraps: Place the Crunchwrap seam-side down in the hot skillet. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Flip carefully and cook the other side for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until golden and heated through.
  7. Repeat and finish: Repeat the assembly and cooking process with the remaining tortillas and fillings.
  8. Serve: Slice the Crunchwraps in half if desired and serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

  • Use a spatula to carefully flip the Crunchwraps to avoid breaking their crispy outer shell.
  • For extra crunch, you can toast the tostada shells briefly before assembling.
  • Adjust jalapeño quantity or omit for a milder flavor.
  • Try substituting ground turkey or plant-based beef for alternative protein options.
  • Serve with salsa or guacamole for added flavor dips.
