Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 2/3 cup water
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Crunchwrap Assembly
- 6 large flour tortillas
- 6 small tostada shells
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/2 red onion, diced
- 1/4 cup jalapeños (optional)
Cooking
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- Cook the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula until it is browned. Drain the excess fat to keep the mixture from being greasy.
- Season the beef: Add the taco seasoning and water to the cooked beef. Stir well and simmer for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare skillet for cooking wraps: In a separate skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat to prepare for cooking the Crunchwraps.
- Assemble the Crunchwraps: Lay a large flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. In the center, layer the seasoned beef, a small tostada shell, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, lettuce, diced tomato, diced red onion, and jalapeños if using.
- Fold the tortilla: Carefully fold the edges of the tortilla up and over the filling, pinching together in the center to form a secure wrap that encloses all the ingredients.
- Cook the Crunchwraps: Place the Crunchwrap seam-side down in the hot skillet. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Flip carefully and cook the other side for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until golden and heated through.
- Repeat and finish: Repeat the assembly and cooking process with the remaining tortillas and fillings.
- Serve: Slice the Crunchwraps in half if desired and serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
- Use a spatula to carefully flip the Crunchwraps to avoid breaking their crispy outer shell.
- For extra crunch, you can toast the tostada shells briefly before assembling.
- Adjust jalapeño quantity or omit for a milder flavor.
- Try substituting ground turkey or plant-based beef for alternative protein options.
- Serve with salsa or guacamole for added flavor dips.
