Ingredients
Scale
Ice Cream
- 4 scoops of your favorite ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry)
Coating
- 1 cup cornflakes or crispy cereal, crushed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
Frying
- Vegetable oil for frying
Optional Toppings
- Honey
- Chocolate sauce
- Caramel sauce
- Whipped cream
- Sprinkles
Instructions
- Freeze Ice Cream Scoops: Place the ice cream scoops on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 2 hours until very firm. This step ensures the ice cream holds its shape during frying.
- Prepare Coatings: In a shallow bowl, combine crushed cornflakes, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon. Place the all-purpose flour in a separate shallow bowl and the beaten eggs in another shallow bowl. These will be used to coat the ice cream scoops properly.
- Coat the Ice Cream: Lightly roll each frozen ice cream scoop in flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat thoroughly with the cornflake-sugar-cinnamon mixture. For added protection and crunch, freeze the coated scoops again for 30 minutes before frying.
- Heat Oil: Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 375°F (190°C). Use enough oil to fully submerge the ice cream scoops for even frying.
- Fry the Coated Ice Cream: Carefully fry each coated scoop for 15-30 seconds until the coating turns golden brown. Work swiftly to avoid melting the ice cream inside. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried scoops and let excess oil drain.
- Serve Immediately: Serve the hot, crispy fried ice cream immediately with your choice of optional toppings like honey, chocolate sauce, caramel, whipped cream, or sprinkles for extra indulgence.
Notes
- For easier handling, keep the ice cream very cold and only remove from the freezer just before frying.
- Add chopped nuts or shredded coconut to the coating mixture for additional texture and flavor.
- If deep frying is not preferred, you can bake the coated ice cream scoops at 425°F (220°C) for 3-5 minutes for a less crispy but warm coating.
