Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- â…“ cup honey
- ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)
- Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the chicken with black pepper and sear on both sides until golden brown and nearly cooked through, about 3–4 minutes per side.
- Remove the chicken and set aside. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Reduce heat to medium and stir in honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and red pepper flakes if using. Let the sauce simmer for 2 minutes.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and cook for another 4–5 minutes, spooning sauce over the chicken, until fully cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F).
- For a thicker sauce, stir in the cornstarch slurry and simmer for 1–2 minutes until thickened. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- Serve over rice, quinoa, or steamed vegetables.
- You can use chicken thighs for extra juiciness or double the sauce if you like it extra saucy.
