Description

This Honey Garlic Chicken recipe is a flavorful and easy dish that combines the sweetness of honey with savory garlic and soy sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner, this Asian-inspired dish is sure to become a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • â…“ cup honey
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the chicken with black pepper and sear on both sides until golden brown and nearly cooked through, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  2. Remove the chicken and set aside. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Reduce heat to medium and stir in honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and red pepper flakes if using. Let the sauce simmer for 2 minutes.
  4. Return the chicken to the skillet and cook for another 4–5 minutes, spooning sauce over the chicken, until fully cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F).
  5. For a thicker sauce, stir in the cornstarch slurry and simmer for 1–2 minutes until thickened. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Serve over rice, quinoa, or steamed vegetables.
  • You can use chicken thighs for extra juiciness or double the sauce if you like it extra saucy.
