Description

Honey Garlic Salmon Bites are tender, bite-sized salmon cubes seasoned with aromatic spices, pan-seared to a crispy golden finish, and coated in a luscious honey garlic glaze. This quick and flavorful dish is perfect for weeknight dinners and pairs beautifully with steamed rice, garnished with sesame seeds and fresh chives for an elegant touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon and Seasoning

  • 1 ½ lb salmon, skin removed and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Cooking Oil

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided

Sauce and Garnish

  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 teaspoons chopped chives (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the Salmon: Pat the salmon cubes dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. In a bowl, combine the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the salmon and massage the seasoning evenly onto the fish cubes.
  2. Cook the Salmon: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat. Place the salmon cubes in a single layer and cook for 4-5 minutes, flipping frequently until the outside is crispy and golden brown. Remove the cooked salmon cubes and set aside. Repeat with the remaining salmon.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté the minced garlic and grated ginger for about 1 minute, until fragrant and aromatic.
  4. Make the Glaze: Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey. Let the sauce simmer gently for 3-5 minutes, until it thickens to a sticky and glossy glaze.
  5. Combine: Return the crispy salmon cubes to the skillet and gently toss them to coat thoroughly with the honey garlic sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  6. Serve: Serve the honey garlic salmon bites hot over steamed rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped chives for a fresh finish.

Notes

  • Ensure salmon cubes are dry before seasoning to achieve a crispy exterior when frying.
  • The glaze thickens best on medium-low heat; avoid high heat which can burn the honey.
  • Can be served over quinoa or noodles as an alternative to steamed rice.
  • Add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to the glaze for a spicy kick.
  • Use a non-stick skillet or well-seasoned cast iron for even cooking.
