Description

Delicious and easy Instant Pot chicken wings cooked to perfection. These flavorful wings are pressure cooked to lock in moisture and then optionally crisped in the oven or air fryer, tossed in a buttery hot sauce, and garnished with green onions or sesame seeds for a perfect appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Wings

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Cooking Liquids

  • ½ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (optional)

Sauce

  • ¼ cup hot sauce or buffalo sauce
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Garnish

  • Chopped green onions or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Season the Wings: In a large bowl, season the chicken wings evenly with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika, ensuring every wing is coated for optimal flavor.
  2. Prepare Instant Pot: Pour ½ cup water into the Instant Pot and place the trivet inside to keep the wings elevated above the water.
  3. Arrange Wings: Place the seasoned wings in a single layer on the trivet, making sure they are spaced out as much as possible for even cooking.
  4. Pressure Cook: Close the Instant Pot lid securely and set the valve to sealing. Cook on high pressure for 10 minutes to cook the wings through while keeping them juicy.
  5. Release Pressure: After cooking, allow a natural pressure release for 5 minutes, then carefully perform a quick release to let out any remaining pressure.
  6. Dry the Wings: Remove the wings carefully from the Instant Pot and pat them dry with paper towels to help them crisp up in the final step.
  7. Crisp the Wings (Optional): For extra crispy wings, preheat your oven to 425°F or use the air fryer function if available. Place the wings on a baking sheet and bake or air fry for 5 to 10 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden.
  8. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the hot sauce and melted butter until well combined for a rich, tangy coating.
  9. Toss Wings in Sauce: Toss the cooked wings in the prepared hot sauce mixture until each wing is evenly coated with the sauce.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Garnish the sauced wings with chopped green onions or sesame seeds for added flavor and presentation. Serve immediately for best taste.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of hot sauce to control the spice level according to your preference.
  • These wings pair excellently with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
  • Using the oven or air fryer step is optional but recommended for crispier wings.
