Chocolate Cake

Sour Cream Topping
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon espresso powder (optional)
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan thoroughly to prevent sticking and set it aside.
- Prepare Cake Batter: Follow the instructions on the chocolate cake mix box to prepare the batter. Once ready, pour the batter evenly into the greased pan.
- Make Cream Cheese Layer: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs together until the mixture is smooth and creamy with no lumps.
- Layer Cream Cheese Over Batter: Gently and evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over the chocolate cake batter in the pan, taking care not to mix the layers.
- Prepare Sour Cream Topping: In a small bowl, blend the sour cream, powdered sugar, and optional espresso powder until smooth. Spread this evenly over the cream cheese layer to create the top layer of the cake.
- Add Chocolate Chips: Sprinkle mini chocolate chips evenly over the top of the sour cream layer if using. This adds extra texture and flavor.
- Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes. The cake is done when the top is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
