Description

Marry Me Chicken is a rich and creamy skillet chicken dish featuring juicy chicken breasts simmered in a luscious sauce made with heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and fragrant Italian seasonings. This easy stovetop recipe offers a flavorful comfort meal perfect for weeknights or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Sauce

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry and season both sides evenly with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to enhance flavor.
  2. Sear the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté garlic: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  4. Deglaze and make sauce: Pour in chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the pan to loosen browned bits. Stir in heavy cream, grated Parmesan, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and optional red pepper flakes. Add butter and stir until melted and the sauce begins to thicken.
  5. Simmer chicken in sauce: Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning sauce over them. Simmer for 8 to 10 minutes until chicken is fully cooked and the sauce is creamy and flavorful.
  6. Finish and garnish: Remove from heat and sprinkle chopped fresh basil over the dish before serving to add fresh herbal notes.

Notes

  • Serve with pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes to soak up the creamy sauce.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream but the sauce will be less rich.
  • This dish is best enjoyed fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
