Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Toppings
- 4 slices cooked bacon, chopped
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Optional: fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the chicken after searing.
- Season Chicken: Season the chicken breasts evenly on both sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to infuse flavor.
- Sear Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the seasoned chicken breasts for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until they develop a golden brown crust. Then remove the skillet from heat.
- Add Toppings: Evenly distribute chopped bacon, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, diced tomatoes, sliced green onions, and a sprinkle of dried oregano over each chicken breast.
- Bake: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
- Rest and Garnish: Remove the skillet from the oven and allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes to retain juices. Optionally, garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Chicken thighs can be used instead of breasts for a juicier texture.
- For an extra flavor boost, add chili powder or smoked paprika to the seasoning blend.
- Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or a fresh side salad for a complete meal.
