- 2 cups pumpkin puree
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Other Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy cream, whipped
- 1 package (14 ounces) pound cake or sponge cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Prepare Pumpkin Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and brown sugar. Stir until the mixture is smooth and the spices are evenly incorporated.
- Mix Cream Cheese: In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Combine Pumpkin and Cream Cheese Mixtures: Gently fold the pumpkin mixture into the cream cheese mixture until fully blended, creating a smooth pumpkin cream.
- Layer the Trifle: In a large trifle dish, place one-third of the cake cubes evenly at the bottom. Spread one-third of the pumpkin cream mixture over the cake layer. Sprinkle with some toasted pecans and drizzle with caramel sauce.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering process two more times, ending with the pumpkin cream layer on top.
- Add Whipped Cream and Garnish: Spread the whipped cream evenly over the final pumpkin cream layer. Garnish with the remaining toasted pecans and a final drizzle of caramel sauce for decoration.
- Chill: Refrigerate the assembled trifle for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set before serving.
Notes
- You can use store-bought whipped cream for convenience.
- Substitute pecans with walnuts if preferred.
- For a lighter version, use reduced-fat cream cheese and whipped topping as alternatives.
