For the patties:

- 1 large egg

- 1 teaspoon salt

For the gravy:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (extra for gravy)
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
Instructions
- Prepare the patties: In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Shape into 6 oval patties.
- Sear the patties: Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear the patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Make the gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter, stir in flour, then whisk in beef broth. Add tomato paste, extra Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, and mushrooms. Simmer until thickened.
- Finish cooking: Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve: Serve hot with mashed potatoes or noodles.

- For extra flavor, use a mix of ground beef and pork.
- For a smoother gravy, strain out the mushrooms before serving.
