Ingredients
Scale
Blondie Batter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Topping
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease or line an 8 x 8 inch baking pan with parchment paper to ensure the blondies do not stick and can be easily removed.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and light brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: Stir in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon into the wet ingredients until a thick batter forms with no visible streaks of flour.
- Spread Batter in Pan: Evenly spread the blondie batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing out the top with a spatula for an even bake.
- Prepare and Add Topping: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top of the batter to give the blondies their signature snickerdoodle flavor and texture.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the blondies to cool completely in the pan to set properly before cutting into 9 squares and serving. This ensures clean slices and optimal texture.
Notes
- Do not overbake the blondies to keep them soft and chewy in texture.
- Lining the baking pan with parchment paper helps to easily remove the bars and allows for clean slicing.
- For an extra flavor boost, consider adding white chocolate chips to the batter or drizzle a light glaze after baking.
