Tuna Salad:
- 2 (5 oz) cans tuna packed in water, drained
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped celery
Assembly:
- 4 slices tomato
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 8 slices bread (sourdough or rye recommended)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
- Tuna Salad: In a medium bowl, mix drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic powder, black pepper, red onion, and celery until well combined.
- Assembly: Lay out bread slices, spread butter on one side of each slice. On 4 slices, layer tuna mixture, tomato slice, and cheddar cheese. Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
- Cooking: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook sandwiches for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing lightly with a spatula, until bread is golden and cheese has melted. Serve hot.
